Day 1: Puerto Princesa
(Part of a 5-day Palawan adventure. See El Nido and Underground river story, too.)Travel Notes:
Baker's Hill |
Tricycle (to go around different hotels): Php 50
Accommodation: De Loro Inn, Php 1000/night
City Tour (Tricycle): Php 600 (standard rate)
May 28- we arrived in Puerto Princesa at 10 am. After a smoke, we hired a tricycle to bring us to the different hotels featured in the flyers we got at the airport. After checking out our three picks from the flyers, we decided to stay at De Loro Inn. It's nothing fancy, but it has an ac, cable TV, and its own bathroom.
After getting rid of our luggage, we asked the tricycle driver to give us a tour of the city. All the tours in Puerto Princesa follow standard rates, so that it is impossible to haggle. Anyway, with the tricycle, the city tour costs 600 php. That includes (after having interesting lunch at Ka Luis) crocodile farm, butterfly farm (which is a disappointment), Mitra ranch, and Bakers' Hill. If you want, you could go have a tour of the city center. We skipped that, as we really just would like to go back to the inn, and drink beer to celebrate our Palawan trip. We wanted to go find a Karaoke bar, but thought that should just be reserved for our last night there in Palawan. :)
Mitra's Ranch |
So, we ended up watching National Geographic, after drafting the itinerary for the next 4 days. Yes, I had not found the time to do this before the trip considering what a mess I had had to take care at work.
Oh, by the way, the climax of this day was finding out that the biggest known croc in the country died of stress. The jokes life play on me!
Still, I was glad I was on this trip. Palawan is a beautiful place!
(Day 2 and 3 for El Nido here)
